Don’t let the program’s name throw you off. Every baptized Christian is called to ministry. How might the Holy Spirit be calling you?
What is it you long for? Would you like to have deeper conversations about what Scripture really says or where God is calling you? Would you like to belong to a small group to share insights and discoveries as well as questions about faith? EfM might be the place for you.
EfM is a lay theological education program offered through the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee since 1975. Seminar groups have been offered at St. Margaret’s since 2012. Through study, prayer, worship and reflection the seminar group journeys together as they read Scripture, church history and theology. Most important is the development of skills in theological reflection, an intentional, disciplined discussion to identify beliefs, one’s response, and discover that ministry can be done anywhere and everywhere in our daily lives.
EfM provides the framework for the group to connect faith to their daily lives through a series of four, one-year seminars. A seminar group meets for 36 weeks, September through May. Participants are given weekly assignments to study. Through discussion and reflection, they share insights and questions with one another, gain new understanding and shape their faith into action.
Information about registering for the next seminar will be available in Spring 2024, with registration in Summer 2024.
